La Plaza de Malta toma su nombre del Priorato de los Caballeros de Malta, que sol\u00eda ocupar esta parte del Barrio Peque\u00f1o. En el extremo norte se encuentra un grupo de esculturas que representan a San Juan Bautista de Ferdinand Brokopf, parte de una fuente para marcar el final de una epidemia de placa.<\/p>\n<p>La mayor\u00eda de los edificios eran originalmente casas renacentistas pertenecientes a gente pr\u00f3spera de la ciudad, pero en los siglos XVII y XVIII el Barrio Peque\u00f1o fue tomado por la nobleza cat\u00f3lica y muchos se convirtieron en palacios barrocos extravagantes. El palacio m\u00e1s grande es el Palacio Nostitz (parte del palacio ahora alberga la embajada holandesa); en verano, se dan conciertos en el Palacio.
